The Humility of Jesus

Humble Birth - "And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." (Luke 2:7)

Humble Family - "'Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?' And they were offended at Him.'" (Mark 6:3)

Humble Upbringing - "And Nathanael said to him, 'Can anything good come out of Nazareth?' Philip said to him, 'Come and see.'" (John 1:46)

Humble Wealth - "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." (Matt. 8:20)

Humble Scholarship - "And the Jews marveled, saying, 'How does this Man know letters, having never studied?'" (John 7:15)

Humble Appearance - "For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him." (Isa. 53:2)

Humble Association - "And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, "This Man receives sinners and eats with them.'" (Luke 15:2)

Humble Status - "But made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men." (Phil. 2:7)

Humble Occupation - "...The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Matt. 20:28)

Humble Resolution - "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." (Matt. 26:39)

Jesus said, "...I am gentle and lowly in heart..." (Matt. 11:29) Truly, He was the epitome of humility.
