TV Program for Monday, October 04, 2010
Notes written by Murray Wade
We are members of the Oak Ridge church of Christ. We call ourselves Christians (Acts 11:26) and we hold to the Bible as our one and only Truth. Church of Christ is a biblical description of Christians who work together for the cause of Christ (Romans 16:16). We are independent assemblies with no organization beyond our own number as described in Philippians 1:1. There are Christians across the world working with local congregations of God’s people such as described in Revelation 2-3. Christians are members of Christ’s body, which is also known as His Church (Acts 2:47, Ephesians 5:23). Our mission is to stand for God’s truth (the gospel) and teach it to all people (Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 1:16, 1 Timothy 3:15). We are accountable to our one and only Head Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23, Colossians 1:18).

II. THE SOURCE OF THE MIRACULOUS EVENTS

A. Produced by God

1. God (Acts 15:12)

2. Christ (Matt. 10:1, Acts 2:22)

3. The Holy Spirit (Matt. 12:28, Heb. 2:4)

B. Jesus gave the Power to the Apostles and others (Matt. 10:1, John 14:12, Luke 10:1-24)

C. Apostles gave the power to others (Acts 8:12-20, 1 Cor. 2:10-16, 2 Tim. 1:6)

D. Ananias gave the Holy Spirit to Paul (Acts 9:17-18)

III. THE RESULTS OF THE MIRACULOUS EVENTS

A. Purpose fulfilled

1. Confirm the Word; the gospel (Mark 16:15-20, Heb. 2:1-4)

2. Produce belief (John 4:46-54, 12:42, 20:30-31, Luke 5:1-11, Acts 9:42, 13:12)

3. Glorify God (Matt. 9:1-8, Luke 18:43, Acts 3:6-10)

B. No doubt from witnesses (Matt. 8:14-17, 9:35, Luke 13:17, Jn 2:23, 3:2, Acts 4:13-16, 5:12-16)

C. Event happened immediately (Matt. 8:3, 20:34, Luke 8:44, 13:13, Acts 9:40)

D. Some wanted to kill (John 5:16, 12:9-11)

IV. THE JOURNEY OF THE WORD OF GOD TO MAN!

A. In Men

1. Holy Spirit to reveal all Truth (John 16:12-14, Eph. 3:1-5)

2. Miracles to confirm the Truth (Mark 16:17-20, 2 Corinthians 12:12)

3. All SPOKEN at first (Acts 20:20-27)

B. In Men and Epistle

            1. Holy Spirit directed (2 Peter 1:16-21)

            2. Spoken and Written (2 Thessalonians 2:15, 1 Corinthians 13:8-13)

C. Now in the Bible for ALL!

            1. Faith once delivered (Jude 3)

            2. The Word has been confirmed (Hebrews 2:1-4, Mark 16:20)

            3. Miracles no longer needed (1 Corinthians 13:8)

            4. Now the Word is ALL written and ALL sufficient (John 20:30-31, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Now we all have to make a choice. Will we obey Him or reject Him? We hope you chose to obey Him! Believe Him, be willing to confess that Jesus is the Son of God, repent of your sins, and be baptized to wash away your sins. That is how one becomes a child of God and begins a life of obedience to Him. At baptism you can begin a relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:18-20). We hope you chose to obey and we hope to see you next time on “Speaking The Truth In Love” when we plan to study “The Baptism of The Holy Spirit”.
