Compassionate Spiritual Family

The Oak Ridge church of Christ is a spiritual family of disciples of Jesus Christ striving to do the will of God. Our allegiance is not to any denominational affiliation, human teacher, or spoken or unspoken set of doctrines, but to Jesus Christ. We are fallen people that have been redeemed from our sins. We do our very best to lean on Him, serve Him, and serve others, as we find in Scripture.

When we say, “spiritual family,” we mean both of those words. It is spiritual in that our first aim, always, is to do the will of God as we find written in the Scripture. We believe in the mission of the church to “speak the truth in love,” (Ephesians 4:15), to “preach Christ crucified” (1 Corinthians 1:23), and to “reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching” (2 Timothy 4:2).

We also take very seriously the commitment of the Christian to the local church as to a family, that the early church met together in the temple and from house to house (Acts 2:46), that they were extremely generous with their time and money (Acts 2:44-45), and that encouraging one another is one of the key purposes of the local church (Hebrews 10:24-25).

In short, what you will find here is a group of fallen people who have been saved from their sins. By obeying the Lord, we have received His grace and mercy. We are eager to serve in gratefulness and to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
