"Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat? Then the man
said, 'The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.' And the
LORD God said to the woman, 'What is this you have done?' The woman said, 'The serpent
deceived me, and I ate.'" (Gen. 3:11-13)
Man often wants to blame others for his faults. This is well illustrated in a Peanuts cartoon. It
showed Peppermint Patty talking to Charlie Brown. She said, "Guess what, Chuck. The first day
of school, and I got sent to the principal's office. It was your fault, Chuck." He said, "My fault?
How could it be my fault? Why do you say everything is my fault?" She said, "You're my friend,
aren't you, Chuck? You should have been a better influence on me."
The person who accepts responsibility for his own sins is the one who is pleasing to God. "He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." (Prov. 28:13)
