Speaking the Truth in Love
How Much Can Jesus Forgive?
Over the years we have many who have called with the idea that their life is so messed up that Jesus would not want them. Let us look at some examples from the Bible of people who did some bad things, but Jesus forgave them.
Paul
Persecuted and drug off followers of The Way (Acts 8:1-3, 9:1-16, 22:4-8, 26:9-11, 1 Timothy 1:12-16)
Peter
Denied the Lord but became a Leader for the Lord’s cause (John 13:36-38, 18:25-27, Acts 2:14, 5:12-16, 29-32, 10:34-43)
All the Apostles
At one point all of the Apostles forsook the Lord and fled (Matthew 26:56)
Woman in sin
She had many sins and took action by going to Jesus (Luke 7:36-50)
The fact of the matter is Jesus can forgive anyone. Romans 3:23 tell us that we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is an important message for us all to learn here. No matter what we have done, the Lord can forgive us (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, Acts 18:8). He can and wants to save us from all our sins. What a message for us to really take into our hearts. What a message to take to our friends in sin! What a message for you in our audience who have not humbled yourself to Jesus! Do you have sins that you would like to wash away? Come to Jesus tonight. Confess that Jesus is the Son of God, repent (have a godly sorrow for your sins and a desire not to sin anymore), and be baptized in water for the remission of your sins. After you do these very simple things, you will then be free of all your sins and will not have to feel bad about them anymore! Jesus can forgive! Paul, Peter, the Apostles, and the woman in sin, took advantage of the forgiveness by taking action. Now you can take action for your sins.
Notice what happened when those who killed Jesus asked what they must do to be forgiven (Acts 2:36-41, 47). Imagine that. Jesus, the one who they had crucified, forgave them of that sin. If He can take away the sins of those who murdered Him, He can surely forgive you! Please consider these things in your life. We hope to see you next time on, “Speaking The Truth In Love”.
