Speaking the Truth in Love
Heart Lessons: Keeping Ourselves Pure?
Tonight we are going to start by reading in the book of Numbers chapter 19 verses 1-22.
God commanded the Israelites, Moses, and Aaron to put a lot of effort into keeping themselves and the congregation pure.
Do we look at sin the same way in our lives? Do we put a lot of effort into keep ourselves (body and hearts) pure before the Lord and the world? (1 Corinthians 9:27)
Do we look at sin the same way in our congregation? Do we put a lot of effort into keeping our congregation pure before the Lord and the world? (Revelation 2:2-3)
Do we put a lot of effort into keeping the sinful things of the world outside our camps? NoticeNumbers 19:1-3. Or do we bring them inside our minds and our homes with the idea that we will be strong enough not to give in to their temptations? (2 Timothy 2:22, 1 Timothy 5:22, 6:9-11, 2Corinthians 10:5).
Do we keep our tabernacle pure? Notice Numbers 19:13 (1 Corinthians 3:17, 6:19-20)
Do we put a lot of effort into keeping company with friends who will not contaminate our purity before the Lord? Notice Numbers 19:22. Or do we spend a lot of time with worldly friends and acquaintances, with the idea that we will be strong enough not to be influenced or touched by their worldliness? (1 Corinthians 15:33, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18)
Good lessons from Numbers 19 and good questions for us to consider in our lives, in our congregation, in our friends, and in our homes.
God wants you to be pure before Him. That is why He sent His Son to die for you (1 John 1:7,Matthew 5:8, Hebrews 10:19-22). Why not repent of your sins and be baptized to wash them all away this morning (1 Peter 3:21)? He can wash our hearts, make them pure, and you will be free of the guilt of your sins. Let us know if we can help you become a Christian tonight. We also hope to see you next time on "Speaking The Truth In Love"!
