Speaking the Truth in Love

Speaking the Truth in Love

Are We Of The Same Mind As Jesus?

Are we of the same mind as Jesus? [live call in: (865) 215-4337]

Introduction: The world looks at most things religious with the idea to “agree to disagree”. Tonight we want examine what it means to be of the “Same Mind with Jesus”.

  • Many New Testament passages command all to be of one mind (Romans 15:1-6, 2 Corinthians 13:11-14, Philippians 1:27, 2:1-8, 3:15-16, 4:2, 1 Peter 3:8, 4:1-2)
  • Being of the same mind is only possible if every part does their share in seeking unity (1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Ephesians 4:15-16, 1 Corinthians 1:10)

Let’s now get into the specifics of defining being in unity and being of the same mind.

God commands all to be united with one another and with Christ:

(1) In Doctrine (Matt. 7:21-24, 28:18-20, Acts 2:42, 5:28, Eph. 4:1-6, 1 Tim. 1:3-4, 2 Tim. 2:15, 3:10-17, James 1:21-25, 2 John 1:9)

(2) In Purpose and Mission

a. Worship and keep His commands (Matthew 15:9, John 4:24, Romans 12:1-2, 1 John 5:1-3)

b. Save ourselves (Acts 2:40, Romans 1:16, 1 Timothy 4:16)

c. Save the lost (1 Corinthians 7:16, 9:22, 1 Timothy 2:1-4, James 5:19-20, Jude 20-23)

d. Encouraged to keep our salvation (Rom. 14:19, Gal. 6:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, Hebrews 10:24-25)

(3) In Our Goal of Heaven (2 Corinthians 4:16-5:3, 9-11, Philippians 3:20, Colossians 1:5, 1 Peter 1:3-4)

What is your purpose and mission in this life? What is your ultimate goal?

Is it to worship God by keeping His commandments?

Is it to be transformed to His purposes and not the purposes of the world?

Is it to save your soul and to save the souls of others?

Is your goal the same as the apostles: to get to Heaven for eternity?

*Being of the same mind is commanded by the Lord!

Are you of the Same Mind with Jesus tonight?

If you are not a Christian tonight, you are not of the same mind with Jesus. We must all submit to Jesus by believing in Him, confessing that He is the Son of God, repenting or turning away from our sins, and being baptized to wash our sins away. Once we have submitted to following Jesus, we can live our life being of one mind with Him with the goal of one day being judged worthy of peace and joy forever.

Eternal life is quite a promise! We will close tonight with Matthew 7:13-14.

We invite all in our audience to our Bible studies on Wednesday at 7pm and Sunday morning at 9am. We would love to study God’s together with you! Please check the scriptures we have covered tonight.
